We hope you are having a great summer! Thank you again to everyone who came out for our first ever GNO! We had a blast and raised over $1,000. There was only one problem – Logan said, “Well… that’s a lot of money, but this organization is called KIDS Can, so what about the KIDS?” We put our heads together and came up with an exciting answer — KIDS NIGHT IN!!!

Please join us on Saturday, August 23rd from 6pm -?? For KIDS NIGHT IN!

WHERE: Logan Bratter’s house (address to be provided)

WHAT: Please join us for a night of physical activity, a fun service project with ScentsAbility, dinner, dessert and lots of fun!

COST: $25 for the first child, $20 for each additional child

Parents are welcome to drop their kids off or stick around and join in the fun. Don’t worry about us though – we will have plenty of adult supervision, so feel free to drop the kiddies off and go for a nice dinner!

Houses for Change Donation Update

Kids Can received the following letter from Family Promise, which sponsors the Houses for Change program:

Dear Logan and Kids Can members,

I wanted to send you a personal note of thanks for your efforts on behalf of homeless families and Family Promise in particular. We received your generous check today and are applying it to our general fund. It will be used to help us develop one of our new Affiliates nationwide to provide shelter and support for children and parents who find themselves temporarily without a home.

I’m so pleased that you used the Houses for Change project as your fundraiser. When Mark Wasserman dreamed up the idea several years ago and approached us to partner with him on its development, we hoped that it would serve, not only as a tool for raising money, but also as a means to engage youth in the critical effort to raise awareness of families in need.

The Kids Can Foundation perfectly embodies what we had envisioned—empowering children to give back to those in their communities who are less fortunate. Your input is helping us change the world, one family at a time.

Thank you once again for your contribution.

Kids Can’s Wrap-Up Event Success

This past December, more than 50 Kids Can kids gathered together to help those who need it the most: homeless families in our community and nationally.

Each child created a “House for Change” collection box that they filled with change to raise money for two nonprofits that help homeless families: the Broward Outreach Center and Family Promise, the national sponsor of Houses for Change.

Nearly four months later these kids have proven once again that they are simply awesome!!! On Sunday April 5th, the kids gathered once again at the Posnack JCC; this time to count all that change!!

The kids took turns sharing their stories about how they decorated their boxes and then how they worked with their families to collect change around their houses, and with their friends and family.

After a fun warm up with Justin Seedman from JustinFit, a proud supporter of Kids Can, including freeze dance and their favorite- tug of war, an announcement was made!

The Kids Can kids collected nearly $700 so far in their effort to help homeless families. Over twenty kids came out to help count the change, and there is more pouring in!

After all that hard work, the kids were treated to healthy popsicles from PopLabs, a well deserved reward!

Pictures from yesterday’s event can be found on our Gallery page.

Our next event is our first Girls Night Out! Scheduled for Thursday, April 24th, this night is going to be awesome. Come join us for a night just for the ladies, full of shopping and makeup, drinks and more! Contact us now to register and for full details!

Houses for Change Wrap-Up Event

Kids Can will be holding our Houses for Change wrap-up event on April 5th.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 5th at the Posnak JCC in Davie from 2:00pm – 4:00pm (address is listed below).

Once again, Justin Seedman, from JusinFit, will be on hand to do special activities with the kids, plus we’ll have some healthy popsicles from PopLab. Popsicles will be free to every child (and their siblings) who bring back their “Houses for Change” collection box. Popsicles will also be available for everyone else at the cost of $3.00 per popsicle (20% will be donated to KidsCan from PopLab).

Your child does not need a “House for Change” collection box to attend, so anyone can join us!

Hope to see you there!
